WHATS
ON
Currently on show, amongst the
paintings on the ground floor at the
Manchester Art Gallery is a series of
paintings by Stacey Manton depicting
the street people of Manchester. This
small selection of paintings covers a
big range in size; the smallest ones are
only small in dimension but are as
monumental in content as the
enormous pieces alongside. Here are
portraits of otherwise forgotten
people painted in their own environ-
ment; people we walk past in the street
and barely afford a glance, perhaps
through embarrassment we choose
not to acknowledge the difference
between the haves and the have
nots. Through the brush strokes of
Stacey Manton they are recognised
and hang in full glory. Dont miss the
opportunity to see these wonderful
paintings.
