Julia is an artist and printmaker, living and working in the North West. Working figuratively with an emphasis on drawing, she tends to work on paper often deriving her material from direct observation. Her work can be seen in public, private and corperate collections in the U.K. and abroad. In 1996 she was awarded both the Rainford Trust Prize, (painting) and the Gainsborough's House prize (printmaking).
Several times an exhibitor at the Royal Academy of Art's Summer Exhibition, Julia was one of a group of English Artists in an exhibition at the Ekaterinbourg Fine Art Museum, Russia, in 1997.
Julia is a Council member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art, a member of the Printmakers Council, the Chelsea Arts Club and Reader in Documentary Drawing at the Liverpool John Moores University. Acquisitions of Julia's art have been made by the Wellcome Foundation, the National Museum of Science & Industry and the Royal College of Surgeons.
